6. Identify ways to reduce those risks
- The history of oil spills clearly indicates that accidents happen wherever there is tanker traffic. With crude oil tankers in Burrard Inlet, there will be spills.
- There have been several marine risk assessments that have been undertaken in southern British Columbia that recognize:
- Marine accidents happen
- They can occur anywhere
- For any reason
- Therefore, the only way to eliminate the risk is to stop the shipment of crude oil through Burrard Inlet.
